2009 NMNWSE IMPACT! Award winner Joan Woodard honored at the Jan 11 Central Chapter Meeting

At the January 2010 Central Chapter Dinner we bestowed our 2009 IMPACT! Award on Joan Woodard, Executive Vice President and Deputy Laboratory Director for National Security Technologies and Systems for Sandia National Laboratories (SNL).

Maria Elena Alvarez nominated Joan for the award as “...Joan continually champions for women in non-traditional fields. Her outreach and visibility extends broadly..."

Joan said the Award couldn't have come at a better time. It will be leveraged to help energize and highlight awards for deserving women at SNL - "there is a need for women to do a better job of helping and recognizing other women, and the IMPACT! Award is a good example for that process".

The IMPACT! award is given by NMNWSE in cooperation with the NM Commission on the Status of Women to recognize New Mexico women for their extraordinary efforts in encouraging and helping women enter and succeed in science, technology, engineering and math as well as promoting networking and communication among women in these careers.
2010 Nominations will be due in early fall - details will be posted on the IMPACT! Award webpage in late Spring.
