LUNCHTIME TALK SERIES

Tuesday, August 6, 2002
Advanced Monitoring and Transparency Laboratory
Motorola Building, Los Alamos Research Park
11:30 am - 1:30 pm (talk at 12:00)

TALK at 12:00:
Kathy Prestridge, DX-3, LANL
Spills & Ripples: Fun properties of Fluids

ABSTRACT

Kathy will demonstrate some of the interesting parlor tricks that you can do for your friends and family which demonstrate the basic principles of fluids, such as pressure, surface tension, and density. The behavior of fluids is important in the study of fluid instabilities, and also in geophysical flows, biological systems, and predicting the weather. This will be a hands-on talk, and audience participation is encouraged.

LAWIS will provide a selection of drinks.
Members and Nonmembers Welcome!

The room is reserved from 11:30 to 1:30 people to get together and network before and/or after the talk. Bring your lunch or pick up something at the Hot Rocks Java Cafe (next door to the ATML). You are welcome to come early, late, or for just the talk at noon, and questions are encouraged!
