Reducing Neck and Low Back Tightness

Stress Management Strategies

Cindy's talk at 12:00 will discuss what happens to the muscles when we are under stress, what one can do to help take care of their neck and back, how to find your own neutral posture, and 8 easy stretches for the neck and low back that can be performed in an office or at home.

Amy's presentation at 12:30 will focus on recognizing signs of stress, and strategies for controlling our response to stress.

Cindy Lawton Graduated from Stanford in 1984 and practiced orthopedic physical therapy for 20 years. Cindy has worked with professional athletes, directed and owned a private practice, faculty member at the university of delaware, worked with many industrial companies including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pittsburg Paint and Glass, and MBNA. Cindy has presented many continuing education courses on evaluation and treatment of low back and neck disorders and lectured to many companies on prevention of low back injuries including the US Senate. Presently, Cindy is a Physical Therapist at LANL treating work related injuries as well as part owner of Rebound Physical Therapy in town.

Amy Anderson is a counselor in the HSR-2 Employee Assistance Program. Amy has over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. In addition to her work as a counselor, Amy gives presentations on a number of health promotion topics including stress management, career burnout, and work/life balance. Amy is a licensed mental health counselor in the State of New Mexico.

The room is reserved from 11:30 to 1:30 so people to can get together and network before and/or after the talk. Bring your lunch or pick up something at the Hot Rocks Java Cafe on the 2nd floor. You are welcome to come early, late, or for just the talk at noon, and questions are encouraged!
