The 2008 Annual Meeting of the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering will be held October 24-26 in Truth or Consequences, NM. The date is now rapidly approaching. Add these dates to your calendar and make your plans to attend.

 We encourage you to reserve your room at the Sierra Grande Lodge and Spa or the Pelican Spa before our special rates go away on September 23 - Deadline Extended!

The registration form is now available online, or you can complete the interest survey if you are thinking about attending but not yet ready to register. New members attending the annual meeting are offered special reduced 2009 membership fees - simply check the appropriate boxes on the registration form. Please register by Oct 3 to avoid the late registration penalty.

The meeting will start with a reception on Friday evening -- drinks and snacks and conversation.

Our technical sessions this year will be divided into two parts: oral presentations and a poster session. The first session will consist of technical talks, which are 30 minutes including questions. The poster session will include wine, cheese, and other appetizers. We highly encourage the submittal of poster presentations -- students presenting papers are eligible to apply for a meeting scholarship. Abstracts are to be submitted to the Board by October 3, 2008. If you believe you will be submitting a paper, please let us know soon if it will be an oral or poster paper, which can be done by checking the appropriate boxes on the registration form or interest survey.

The conference dinner on Saturday will catered by Bella Luca Restaurante in Truth or Consequences, and will feature presentation of the Network-sponsored IMPACT! Award as well as a keynote address by Gwynne Shotwell, Vice President of Business Development at SpaceX, which specializes in space exploration technologies.

The 2009 NMNWSE Board will also be elected at the Annual Meeting. Please contact the board at NMNWSE_Board-l@list.unm.edu by Sep 19 if you might be interested in running for the board, or would like to suggest a candidate. Online voting is scheduled to open Sep 29.
